What currencies do you accept?

Payments will be accepted in Euros only.

What credit cards do you accept?

We accept payment by American Express, Visa or MasterCard. Please note Visa debit cards may not be accepted outside of the country of origin and/or your bank may decline large transaction amounts. For more information, please contact your bank directly before attempting payment.

Can I pay by bank/wire transfer?

Yes. In order to pay by bank / wire transfer you will need to select this option during ‘Step 6 – Review & Submit’ of the registration process. If you require a VAT invoice, this option is available during this step of the registration process.

Please allow enough time for your bank/wire transfer payment to be completed, as processing can take up to 10 working days. If the transfer has not cleared prior to your arrival onsite you will be expected to supply an alternate form of payment. Badges will not be distributed without full payment of registration fees.

Please note: Approximately 10 days prior to the event, the option to pay by bank/wire transfer will be removed from the registration process in order to allow time for payments to be received. After this stage, only credit cards will be accepted.

Is there a minimum age to attend Mobile World Congress?

Yes – all attendees must be 16 years or older. Any requests for visitors under the age of 16 must be put in writing to registration@mobileworldcongress.com. Requests must be approved by GSMA prior to the event. Attendees under the age of 16 will not be able to enter the event without GSMA’s prior written approval.

What kind of passes are available? What does my pass type give me access to?

Once again we are offering four types of passes for Mobile World Congress, ranging from exhibition access to a five star platinum experience. Full information on prices and what benefits are included in your pass click here.

Can I register onsite?

Certainly! However, we strongly recommend you register before arrival in Barcelona to avoid queues.

What is the Cancellation or Substitution Policy?

ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Cancellations, as well as ‘no shows’, will be liable for the FULL registration fee. No refunds shall be given. Cancellation of travel reservation and hotel reservation are the exclusive responsibility of the registrant.

Paid attendees can send a substitution if they are no longer able to attend. See the “Registration Assistance” section for more details on substitutions.

How can I claim Value Added Tax (VAT) back?

The GSMA does not promote a tax compliance and recovery service for Mobile World Congress. This is due to differing standards of service and delivery available to different attendees and exhibitors in different countries. Our suggestion is that you undertake a search in your country for a reputable service provider and/or engage with your accounts or auditors for a recommendation specific to your organisation and country.

When will I receive a registration confirmation?

You will receive an e-mail confirmation (Final Confirmation) only after you have completed your registration and payment in full. Your Final Confirmation must be brought with you onsite to collect your badge. Only fully paid registrations will be sent a confirmation e-mail. Alternatively, your Final Confirmation is always accessible from the GSMA app. Download the  GSMA  app by entering “GSMA” in your app market and selecting ‘MyReg & Badge’ from within the app (Android , Windows & iOS only).

Please note access to some events at Mobile World Congress (including Partner Events, ADCs and Forum Series programmes) will be confirmed directly by the event organiser. The Final Confirmation received from the GSMA includes confirmation of your Mobile World Congress registration only, and does not imply confirmation of attendance at a specific programme you may have applied for.

Can I attend Conference Lunch?

Lunch is included at the Conference Lunch Restaurants in Hall 4 with all Gold and Platinum Passes. Please check your confirmation e-mail on what you have access to as part of your pass type. Silver Pass holders and Exhibition Visitor Pass holders do not have access to Conference Lunch, but may purchase meals from the many outlets available at the venue.

NFC Badge at MWC

What is the NFC Badge?

The NFC Badge is a feature available in the GSMA app which allows you to use your NFC-enabled handset to access Mobile World Congress.

The NFC Badge will enable you to enjoy ease-of-access during MWC, passing through dedicated NFC Badge entrance lanes at the North and South Entrances without having to repeatedly show photo ID – you will only need to show official photo ID once to collect your printed badge and to validate your NFC Badge photo. Additionally, you may use your NFC Badge to attend conference sessions held in Hall 4, subject to having a conference eligible pass.

You can download the GSMA app and obtain your NFC badge by entering “GSMA” in your app market and selecting ‘MyReg & Badge’ from within the GSMA app.*

Note: to use the NFC Badge, your handset must be NFC-enabled and running on Android 4 or Windows Phone 8 operating systems.

How do I log into the NFC Badge?

Enter your username (email) and password used to create your Mobile World Congress registration account. If you have forgotten your password, use the “Forgot Password” option.

Why is my photo required?

Your photo will be stored within your registration account and verified by an agent onsite. Once your photo is verified and validated, you will be able to access the venue using your NFC Badge without repeatedly presenting your Photo ID at access points.

How do I upload my photo?

Upload is simple, either from the NFC Badge (take a picture from your handset or browse your library) or if you have already uploaded your photo when you first registered, it will be pre-populated to the NFC Badge automatically.

How do I validate my photo?

Our registration agents will validate your photo when you collect your printed badge. You will be asked to produce valid photo ID at this point.

Your printed badge bust be worn at all times during the event.

Once validated, your photo will be locked and cannot be modified.

Note: If your photo was validated at Mobile World Congress 2013, it may be re-used without having to revalidate.

Can I use the NFC Badge during build and dismantle period?

No. The NFC Badge app is functional during show days only. Physical Badges must be shown to pass through entrance lanes during build and dismantle.

Do I require an internet connection to use the NFC Badge?

You will need to ensure you are working online to:

  • Log in, using your registration credentials
  • Refresh your NFC badge should you update /upgrade your registration

Additionally, NFC must be enabled on your handset. Ensure NFC is enabled in NFC settings prior to opening the app.

What if my phone is not NFC-enabled?

Your printed badge will allow you access to Mobile World Congress during show opening hours. But please remember to always have official Photo ID with you at all times.  In addition, you may still benefit from the many advantages our app  ”MyReg & Badge”, has to offer. Click here to find out more.

Does the NFC Badge replace my printed badge?

The NFC Badge does not replace the printed badge. You must wear your printed badge onsite at all times.

What is the GSMA app?

The GSMA event app puts everything about the MWC in the palm of your hand, including:

  • Event information
  • Networking
  • Essential venue services, such as transportation and catering facilities

NFC Badge Identity Validation

What is NFC Badge Identity Validation?

Building on the success of the Mobile World Congress NFC Badge in 2013, customers of Bouygues Telecom, Bharti Airtel, Dialog, Etisalat, Orange, Tata and Telstra and pre-registered subscribers of KT Corp can further facilitate their entry to Mobile World Congress by confirming their identity and activating their NFC badge before they arrive on-site, therefore eliminating the need to show identity documents to enter the event.

To pre-validate their NFC badge, customers of the participating operators simply register for Mobile World Congress, download the GSMA Mobile App if registration has been completed online, log in to the NFC badge and follow the in-app instructions. The NFC Badge Identity Validation process automatically checks the submitted name and phone number against the customer’s account details held by their operator, and their photo ID against the photo supplied for the NFC badge. Once all of the identity validation steps are verified, the NFC Badge will change to green and delegates can collect their printed badge and use dedicated NFC Badge entrance lanes to enter congress without having to present additional photo ID.

What Mobile Network Operators (MNO) are participating, in which countries?

MNO Country / territory
Bouygues Telecom France
Bharti Airtel India (internal staff only)
Dialog Sri Lanka
Etisalat Asia, Middle East, Africa (some countries may not be able to complete photo matching service)
Orange France
KT Corp. South Korea (internal staff only)
Tata Docomo India
Telstra Australia

My operator is not listed in the participants of NFC Badge Identity Validation?

For those delegates whose operators are not participating in the NFC Badge Identity Validation, simply bring your valid photo ID to the event and registration agents will validate your photo when you collect your printed badge.

The app won’t let me pre-validate my NFC Badge.

Your operator may not be participating in NFC Badge Identity Validation, please see “What Mobile Network Operators (MNO) are participating, in which countries?” for more information.

Alternatively, due to our very high security requirements for the photo ID matching process, it may not be possible to match your photo ID from the images submitted. Simply bring your valid photo ID to Mobile World Congress where registration agents will validate your photo when you collect your printed badge.

The app has got stuck and I can’t get past the amber ‘Validate your NFC Badge’.

Who is eligible?

Customers of: Bouygues Telecom, Bharti Airtel, Dialog, Etisalat, Orange, Tata and Telstra and pre-registered subscribers of KT Corp who have registered for Mobile World Congress and have downloaded the GSMA Mobile App.

What operating systems does this work on?

NFC Badge Identity Validation works on both Android and iOS operating systems.

How will my iPhone be able to work with NFC?

For iPhone users, a free Cashwrap NFC-enabled case for iPhone 4, 4s, 5 and 5s is available from sponsor Incipio. When attached to an iPhone, and with the GSMA Mobile App downloaded and open on the handset, the NFC Badge can be used to enter the event and participate in other NFC activities at Mobile World Congress. Click here to find out more.

Unfortunately at this time, NFC Badge Identity Validation does not work on Windows Phone (WP8).

Why should I use NFC Badge Identity Validation?

By utilising this leading edge mobile operator identity solution, eligible attendees can pre-validate their NFC Badges before arriving at Mobile World Congress and use the NFC Badge to identify themselves onsite and pass through access without having to repeatedly show photo ID. Dedicated access lanes are available for NFC Badge users at the North, South Entrances and from Hall 1 Registration.

How do I know when I have successfully validated my identity?

At the end of a successful NFC Badge Identity Validation process, your NFC Badge status will be Green “Badge Active”, meaning you may use your NFC Badge to collect your printed badge and to access MWC without having to repeatedly show photo ID.

The process of validation may take up to 10 minutes after you submit your photograph. The validation process is successful only if your NFC Badge changes to Green Status.

NFC Badges which have not been successfully validated will remain the status your started the process with, either Red (photo required) or Amber (validate your identity onsite).

  • NFC Badges in Red Status – return to the NFC Badge and upload a good and current photo of yourself from your library or camera. Your badge will update itself to Amber Status
  • NFC Badges in Amber Status – you will need to show valid photo ID when collecting your printed badge. Upon badge collection, your NFC Badge will update itself to Green Status (Badge Active) – at which point you may use your NFC Badge to access MWC without having to repeatedly show photo ID.

Sample screen’s to show status:

Red Amber Green

What should I do if I’m not eligible for this service?

If you are not eligible for this service, you will need to bring a valid piece of photo ID (passport, driving licence, national ID card) to the registration desk at Mobile World Congress in order to collect your printed badge and to validate your NFC badge.

I’m not a customer of a participating operator, where can I see Identity Validation in action?

NFC Badge Identity Validation will be demonstrated in Connected City (Hall 3, Stand 3A11&3A31) at Mobile World Congress.

Who should I contact with any problems with registration?

In the first instance, please contact registration@mobileworldcongress.com. However, if your NFC badge status doesn’t update to Green as “Active” simply bring your valid photo ID to Mobile World Congress where registration agents will validate your photo when you collect your printed badge.

Press Registration Queries

How do I register as Press / Analyst?

Members of the media and industry analysts who wish to attend Mobile World Congress 2014 should click here for accreditation information and further details of applying to attend.

Press and industry analysts must apply for accreditation using the Press / Analyst Accreditation system where you will be required to complete your personal data, contact preferences and upload supporting criteria. After submitting your accreditation, your application will be reviewed by the GSMA Press team. If the application is successful, you will be sent a registration confirmation via e-mail, and no further action is required.

What does the Press / Analyst Pass include?

A Press / Analyst pass provide access to the four-day Conference Programme, post-event presentation availability, the Exhibition halls, App Planet, the Global Mobile Awards presentation, and the Mobile World Congress Media Village.

I applied for Press / Analyst Accreditation and am still waiting to hear if it has been accepted.

More than 4,000 people apply to be accredited for Mobile World Congress each year and as a consequence the review and approval of these applications can take some time. We attempt to respond to all accreditation applications within 5–10 working days of receiving your application. Once your accreditation application has been reviewed, you will receive a further e-mail outlining if your application has been accepted or declined.

To check the status of your application, log in to your registration account and you can find your status on the Home page.

What if I don’t meet the Press / Analyst accreditation criteria?

If you do not meet the criteria for the Press / Analyst Accreditation and still wish to attend the event you must purchase a pass. Information on pass types and prices is available here.

If you have further registration queries contact pressregistration@mobileworldcongress.com.
