Speaker FAQ

How are speakers selected?
Speakers are selected on the topic relevance and originality of their submission, in addition to their proven ability in the proposed topic and overall prominence in the industry.

Does exhibiting/sponsoring the event impact my chances of getting a speaking slot?
The conference programme is developed independently of congress sponsorship and/or exhibition space. You cannot pay for a speaking slot.

If you are interested in commercial opportunities to enhance your company’s profile at Mobile World Congress, please contact sales@mobileworldcongress.com

Can I submit a panel of speakers?
Yes, but please check with all speakers on the proposed panel before submitting to ensure that they are available.

How many submissions should I make? There is no limit on the number of submissions you can make, but it is important to only submit on areas of key importance to your business. As a guideline, we recommend no more than 5 submissions per company.

How long are speaking slots?
Presentation slots are between 15 – 20 minutes long. Panel sessions typically run for 45 minutes.

What if my presentation includes commercially sensitive material?
The agenda development team is happy to sign non-disclosure agreements with submitting companies to allow the inclusion of any commercially sensitive material that could strengthen a proposal.

If I am selected as a speaker what am I entitled to?
Every speaker at our events is given a complimentary Gold Pass and the opportunity to purchase additional passes at a discounted rate. Speakers are allowed access to the Speaker Preparation Lounge in order to prepare for their participation.

Does the GSMA pay for my flight and/or accommodation?
As standard, we do not offer speakers financial support for flights and accommodation, due to the unique way in which the GSMA is funded.

When will I find out if my application is accepted?
We make every effort to contact successful applicants within two months of the close of the call for papers. If a speaker becomes unavailable, then a first reserve will be invited to assume the available speaker slot. Should you be planning on attending the event but are waiting for the results of your proposal, we recommend you proceed with your registration for the event, and we will refund the cost of the purchased pass should you subsequently be selected to speak.

The Mobile World Congress Call for Papers will close at 23:59 GMT on Thursday, 08 September 2011.
