Security Tips

Barcelona is a safe city. Nevertheless, you should take the common sense precautions you would take when visiting any major city:

  • Always remove your congress pass when leaving the event venue
  • Watch out for distractions - keep an eye on your personal belongings at all times, never leave them unattended
  • Be vigilant in crowds, restaurants and on public transportation

Other recommendations:

  • Do not carry or display large amounts of cash; only as much as you need
  • Put the "do not disturb" sign on the hotel door if you have to leave valuable items in the room and there is no safety deposit box
  • When travelling around the city, check how to get to your destination in advance, so that you appear confident in how you are walking and where you are going

Reporting Incidents

If you are involved in any incident, please report it to:

  • Police station inside the Fira Montjuïc venue, which will be located at the upper right-hand corner of The Avenue where the outdoor escalators are, next to Hall 8
  • At the hotel where you are staying
  • Call +34 900 77 2011, a free 24-hour Security Service telephone number for assistance and information during the event days. This service covers the entire city of Barcelona (not just the event venue). The number appears on the back of your pass

Reporting incidents helps the city fight petty crime. Thank you.

For your convenience we have teams on motorcycles available to travel to wherever you are and offer personal assistance by accompanying you to the nearest police station, with completing any paperwork needed to report an incident, replacing your documentation and cancelling your credit cards.

Carry Identification

Important: Photo ID checks are performed during the event days each time you enter the venue. Make sure you carry valid photo id with you at all times. Identification documents MUST show your name in a Latin alphabet (no Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Arabic characters) and match the name on your badge.

Accepted forms of Photo ID
  • National ID card
  • Passport
  • Driving license with picture
Not accepted as Photo ID
  • Student ID cards
  • Photocopies
  • Library cards
  • Credit Cards with picture
  • Business cards with picture

While you will need a valid from of photo ID on your person to access the event, we advise where possible to leave at least one other form of photo ID (i.e. driving license) and a credit card in the safety deposit box at your hotel. That way, you will have access to money and identification in the event of an emergency.

Exhibition Security

We strongly recommend all exhibitors provide adequate security for their stands. Exhibitors are encouraged to arrange for security staff both during open hours and throughout the night. For information regarding recommend security suppliers, please refer to the Exhibitor Manual
